The Giver - Conflict
One Conflict in the book is that Jonas is learning the truth. The training of the Receiver of Memories involves physical and even mental pain. He learns the secrets of the world and the memories of people. This drives him to do something near the end that I am not going to give away. This is the biggest conflict of the book. Another conflict in the book is that the Giver holds on to a lot of painful memories that he has to give to Jonas. At one point in the book, Jonas walks in to see the Giver for his training. The Giver is in pain from a memory and Jonas takes it from him. The memory is war, something Jonas has never experienced before.
