The Giver - Theme

The Theme of The Giver is that everything should not be perfect. Evergthing becoming perfect can take away the true pain and pleasure of life. You would not be able to do what you want and everything you do would be assigned. Learning the truth was hard and interesting to Jonas. He realized everything was wrong. Another theme is that pain and happiness is better than nothing. Having pain is better than none at all. Happiness is more important than everything being under control and assigned.
